PBM Infrastructure:
PBM Head office is situated in Pilotpara on 4 acres of own land close to the Khagrachari District Headquarter and is linked with a concrete road of 3 Kilometers from the District Headquarters. PBM Main registered office premises has 11 one-storied pacca and semi-pacca buildings which include: a main project office, Orphan Dormitories for boys and girls, a residential high school, a Medical center, a Vocational Training Center, Two Guest house and a rice mill. PBM presently is constructing a two-storied office building. PBM has its own water supply facilities, sanitation facilities and has a 10 Kilowatts Electric Power Supply Generator.

Inception of PBM: Parbatya Bouddha Mission (PBM) was initiated in May 1983 by the active initiative of a group of socially engaged local indigenous minority community people living in the Khagrachari Hill District. It was undertaken by the local Social workers, Educationists and philanthropists & Religious Leaders, with a view of promoting the socio-economic status of the ethnic indigenous minority community in the 3 (three) hill districts and facilitate them in establishing their due rights in the society. It is a non-profit, non-political and non-government development organization. Since it was established in 1983 PBM has been relentlessly pursuing its mission to uplift the ethnic indigenous minorities of the region.
Legal Status of PBM: PBM is registered with the Directorate of Social Welfare (Directorate of Social Welfare Registration No. 06/85) and with the NGO Affairs Bureau (NGO Affairs Bureau Registration No. 977), Prime Minister’s Office of the Government of Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh.

Mission The PBM development intentions are based on the following inter-related principles:
1. Build people’s institutions and establish group enthusiasm;
2. Empower ethnic indigenous minority peoples through economic development, educational development and health care support;
3. Rights- based development for women and children
4. Human rights.
5. Alleviation of poverty through different IGA support.
6. Learning indigenous religion and Buddhism
Goalt PBM development goals intend to build peoples’ institutions, establish group enthusiasm, empowerment of ethnic indigenous minority peoples including the women and children through participatory economic development.
Specific Objectives: The specific objectives of PBM are tot
a) Facilitate group members raise their social awareness about their needs and interests.
b) Activate group enthusiasm in making them self-supporting in the development process.
c) Mobilize and organize the disadvantaged and the marginalized including children and women.
d) Impart human and skills development training to communities towards efficiency building and behavioral change.
e) Impart functional literacy to ensure peoples’ participation in development activities and processes.
f) Create self-employment and finance generation through credit support to alleviate poverty.
g) Impart non-formal education to non-schooled and drop-out children.
h) Work with the people as catalyst to initiate and inculcate spirit of self-help among the program participants.
i) Stimulate the process of sustainable development through developing capabilities and empowerment.
j) Develop linkages with relevant government, national and international development agencies for wider support and co-operation.
k) Undertake ICT related projects to ensure the potential use of ICT by the indigenous minority communities in the CHT.
l) Undertake sustainable agriculture and environmental program in the area for environmental protection and ecological balance.
m) Provide soft and hardware support to the disadvantaged on health care, water and sanitation.
n) Undertake special program activities to promote human rights especially for women and children.
o) Undertake program for effective involvement of the indigenous communities’ local and national decision-making processes towards institutionalization of participatory democracy.
Working Strategy and Development Approach of PBMt Presently adopts targeted group development approach in implementing its program. Along with, it also follows a bottom-up, participatory working strategy in implementing its programs for making them socially accepted and people oriented and also for ensuring their sustainability.
